Man admits killing horse with bow and arrow

WOODBURY, N.J. (AP) - June 24, 2008

Jason Allen pleaded guilty to animal cruelty.

Under a plea deal, the 20-year-old is unlikely to receive any jail time. He would have to pay restitution of about $25,000 to the horse's owners.

Authorities say Allen and two friends were looking to shoot deer in Gloucester County's Franklin Township in January 2007. But when they spotted Cutie, Allen got out of the car and shot some arrows its way, then drove off.

The horse was found dead the next morning.

The other men are still facing charges in the case.
