Crash closes Garden State Pkwy for hours

BRICK TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - June 25, 2008

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority, operator of the parkway, says all three northbound lanes were closed for nearly two hours Wednesday after a three-car crash around Exit 91 in Brick Township.

Turnpike Authority spokesman Joe Orlando said the crash, around 6:30 a.m., caused a backup as much as eight miles long, stretching back to Toms River.

Orlando said the crash took place after a car crossed from the southbound lanes into the northbound lanes.

He said three people were seriously injured.
