Stargate SG-1's General Hammond dies

Davis, who lived in British Columbia was 65. His death was caused by a heart attack according to reports in The Vancouver Sun.

Davis was born and raised in Missouri and began acting in the early 1980s. He served three years in the military, and two of his most famous roles were his portrayals of military men: General George Hammond in Stargate SG-1 and Major Garland Briggs in Twin Peaks.

According to the scifi.com website, Davis appeared "in numerous feature films, including The Fan, Alaska, A League of Their Own, Hook, Cadence, Needful Things, Mystery Date, Look Who's Talking, Con Air, Best in Show and The 6th Day. He was a recurring player in the Stephen J. Cannell CBS series Broken Badges and has guest-starred on a multitude of shows, including Northern Exposure, L.A. Law, Knots Landing, Wiseguy, 21 Jump Street, Nightmare Cafe, (and) M.A.N.T.I.S."
