Fiesta kicks off Welcome America

CENTER CITY - July 3, 2008 The Fiesta on the Parkway is a celebration of the unique blend of Latin and American cultures.

Music is what pulls it all together. Young and old alike can't sit still.

There was a lot more to do beyond the music.

Sports is a big attraction at the Fiesta, from baseball to basketball.

76er Andre Iguodala showed up to the give kids a few pointers.

They may dream of some day playing in the NBA, but first they have to measure up; figuratively, or literally to Yao Ming stand-up.

Others left the basketball for the youngsters and picked up the dominoes.

This was just the start of what the city hopes will be a huge celebration, thanks in part to the high price of gasoline.
