Slain NJ mom's final farewell read at funeral

MONTCLAIR, N.J. (AP) - July 4, 2008 Two letters written by Monica Paul were read aloud at her funeral on Thursday.

The mother of two was shot at a YMCA where her children were swimming eight days ago. In October, she obtained a restraining order against her husband and penned two letter to her children.

The Star-Ledger of Newark says she wrote: "If you're reading this, then something must have happened to me."

Police suspect the children's father, 37-year-old Kenneth Duckett, shot Paul.

After Paul's letters were read to her children, the Rev. David Ireland implored Duckett to turn himself in to authorities.
