Fun in the sun on the Fourth

OCEAN CITY - July 4, 2008 There are any number of ways to celebrate the Fourth of July, but for thousands of visitors to Ocean City, this is the place to be.

"I like to go to the beach everyday; it's really fun," Sam Myers of Weston, Connecticut said.

The ocean may be cold, but some still ventured in for a July 4th dip. Action News spotted a number of day-trippers who, at least for today, celebrated the freedom from worry over gas prices.

"They're a little high, but you still need a day off; it's a holiday, you have to enjoy it," Rogelio Aleman of Brookhaven, Pennsylvania said.

After a slow start to the season, boardwalk merchants are hoping to sell a lot of food and merchandise.

"If the sun stays, we're looking to have maybe the best weekend of the summer," John Viehweger said.

For hundreds of people, July 4th began with a good old fashion bike parade through the Garden section of Ocean City, where young and old, remembered the true meaning of the day.
