Banana trailers found, no bananas
WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - July 5, 2008 The trailers were full of the fruit when they disappeared from
the Port of Wilmington, in Delaware. They were empty when found
Saturday afternoon.
State police say a New York officer on a routine patrol found
the trailers abandoned on a Bronx roadside. The officer conducted a
computer check and learned that the trailers had been stolen.
Port workers discovered the trailers were missing Thursday
morning after a truck driver arrived at the port to have his rig
hitched to one of them, and it wasn't there.
