Pa. students enrolling in online gym classes
GREENSBURG, Pa. (AP) - July 6, 2008 Patty Kardambikis, program director for the online e-Cademy
program, says students may take cyber P.E. to free up time in their
course schedule. She says others use it to make up a failing gym
grade, while some enroll because body image issues make regular
P.E. classes hard.
Rich Campsie teaches online P.E. His students turn in worksheets
and written reports, but Campsie acknowledges there is no way to
know if a student is completing the physical requirements of the
course.
Hampton Township gym teacher Mark Gartner says nothing can
replace the face-to-face interaction between students and their
P.E. instructors.
