Matt talks to author James Rollins

July 9, 2008 He writes books that force you to read them from beginning to end in one sitting - with no stopping at the end of chapters.

Rollins' latest release is called "The Last Oracle," a continuation of his Sigma Force series. This story involves strange, autistic children, a radioactive lake, and an ancient Oracle that could be the predictor of the end of humanity.

As you might imagine, Rollins doesn't write stories to be told to young children at bedtime.

Director Steven Spielberg also hand-picked Rollins to novelize the screenplay for the latest Indiana Jones movie, "The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."

It was a match made in heaven for Rollins. He is a long-time Indy fan, and had said he would have written the adaptation in his own blood if Spielberg asked.

Watch this edition of the Coffee Shop in the video box above. You will learn more about Rollins' background as a veterinarian, as an undersea and cave explorer, and why he doesn't use his real name in writing books.
