Bee causes helicopter crash

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (AP) - July 14, 2008

Authorities in Wisconsin report a crop-dusting helicopter crashed after a bee got sucked into the cockpit and stung the pilot.

Wood County Deputy Ted Ashbeck says the chopper was only four feet off the ground at the time.

The pilot wasn't hurt when the tail rotor smashed into the ground.

He tells authorities he flew over bee hives while spraying a cranberry marsh.

Deputy Ashbeck adds the helicopter is "pretty banged up."
