Update: Berks Co. police shot fugitive

WYOMISSING, Pa. (AP) - July 15, 2008

Wyomissing Police Chief Jeffrey Biehl said Tuesday that fingerprints show the man shot late Sunday night is really 40-year-old federal fugitive Ramon Sanchez. He most recently lived in the 200 block of Mulberry Street. He was wanted for more than a year for violating parole on federal firearms offenses.

Police initially identified him by a different name that was on a driver's license Sanchez had on him.

Police say Sanchez pulled a gun on Sgt. Leon Grim on Sunday night and the policeman shot him. Sanchez was in fair condition Tuesday at Reading Hospital.
