Local guy is a finalist in BigMac chant competition

PHILADELPHIA - July 17, 2008 Starting today through July 20, McDonald's invites consumers to go online to MySpace.com/BigMacChant and vote for the remix they'd most like to hear featured in an upcoming McDonald's commercial.

Consumers were invited to celebrate the culmination of the Big Mac sandwich's 40th anniversary and rediscover their love for the iconic sandwich by uploading a video or audio remix of the chant to MySpace.com/BigMacChant.

A select panel of judges, including EMI Music Publishing Senior Vice President of Music Resources and Development Keith D'Arcy; EMI Music Publishing Vice President Creative Jake Ottman; music production company HUM and musical group Far East Movement, chose their favorite remixes based on creativity and lyrical accuracy from entries in the country, rock, R&B, hip hop and Latino music categories.

"We want our customers in the Greater Philadelphia Region to vote online today for our local finalist Mosley's remix and celebrate their love of the Big Mac," said Mike Anton, President, Phil-Ad-Mac Owner Operator Association. "We're hoping our hometown favorite becomes a part of McDonald's advertising history."

Jim "MJ" Delligatti, one of McDonald's founder Ray Kroc's earliest franchisees, invented the Big Mac sandwich in his Uniontown, Pa. restaurant and introduced it for 45 cents in 1967. Consisting of two 100 percent all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame-seed bun, the Big Mac quickly gained popularity and was introduced on McDonald's national menu in 1968.
