Beaches closed due to sewers

OCEAN CITY - July 18, 2008 New Jersey-American Water Co. (NJAWC) has unclogged the line.

It is unknown how much, if any, discharge got to ocean waters at 8th and 9th street, but the health department must test the water in that area and give the all clear before swimmers will be allowed back in.

The test results should be back in 24 hours.

Bathers are being directed to adjacent beaches by lifeguards.
