Alligator netted in Bucks County

NORTHAMPTON, Pa. (AP) - July 23, 2008

Claycomb waded into a pond in Northampton on Monday and netted a 30-inch alligator.

The 'gator was spotted by children playing near a construction site for new homes. Their mother called police.

The find comes at a perfect time for Bucks County resident Joe Fortunato. He's opening a teaching zoo, Animal Junction, in Warminster, and says he'll add the alligator to his collection. He already has a two-foot crocodile and two small alligators.

Warminster Public Works Director Buddy Mullen is keeping the alligator in a bathtub in his basement until it can be moved to its new home.
