Gas main break prompts evac in West Chester

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - July 25, 2008 It occurred around 10:45 this morning in the area of the 100 block of E. Minor Street.

PECO tells Action News that a water crew working in the area ruptured an 8-inch gas main. The water crew was doing routine water line maintenance in the area of East Minor Street.

Officials say a 2 block radius around the break has been evacuated. However, officials do say roads up to 4 blocks away from the break are being blocked off.

PECO is now working to cap the gas line leak.
