Was notorious hijacker a college professor?

OGDEN, Utah (AP) - July 28, 2008

A Washington state attorney claims the notorious hijacker was a college instructor in Ogden, Utah.

Cooper vanished after parachuting out of a hijacked jetliner with $200,000 ransom.

That was back in 1971.

Lawyer Galen Cook says Cooper was actually William "Wolfgang" Gossett, who returned to teaching and became a radio talk-show host.

Cook tells the Standard-Examiner he's writing a book about the Cooper hijacking.

Cook says he's submitted fingerprints and hair samples to the FBI to prove his contention.

Federal investigators say they're treating the supposed new evidence like the more than 1,000 leads they've received over the decades.
