Cuffed suspect hides loaded gun from cops

Ocean City police are investigating how officers failed to find a handgun loaded with hollow-point bullets on a domestic violence suspect.

Police say the handcuffed suspect tried to fire the weapon at an officer, but the gun jammed. The officer disarmed the 61-year-old and no one was hurt.

Martin Kieffer is held on $750,000 bail, charged with attempted murder.

Lt. Steven Ang tells The Press of Atlantic City the department is lucky no one was killed or hurt.

Ang says at least four full-time officers were involved in the investigation and arrest.

Kieffer was frisked before he was put into a patrol car. Ang says the Harrisburg, Pa., resident was wearing a shirt that contained a concealed holster.
