Police search for grocery bandits

Police in Bucks and Montgomery counties are trying to track down a team of robbers who have been filling shopping carts with groceries and then running out of stores without paying.

Officers say it's happened several times in recent months at Acme stores in Doylestown and Toamencin townships.

The culprits will fill a cart with meat, canned crab, high end cheese steaks and baby formula, then run out of the store, load their vehicle and speed away.

One of the suspects is described by police as:

  • A Black / Hispanic Male
  • 5'8" to 5'11"
  • 25 to 30 y.o.a.
  • clean shaven
The suspect has been a black male, with no further description. A third suspect seen at some of the crimes is described as a white female, long blonde hair with a thin face.

Police say the team has driven a white Subaru, a black Nissan Maxima, and a maroon Dodge sedan. One of the license plates starts with GYZ9.

Police say the robberies took place

  • 05/23/08 6:30 p.m. at the Doylestown Borough Acme, using a maroon Dodge sedan
  • 07/05/08 0858 hrs Towamencin Twp. Acme blk. Nissan Maxima
  • 07/21/08 1510 hrs Towamencin Twp. Acme white Subaru Outback
  • 07/21/08 2000 hrs Doylestown Borough Acme white Subaru Outback
  • 07/25/08 1445 hrs Doylestown Borough Acme white Subaru Outback
