Delaware state worker faces child porn charges

NEWARK, Del. (AP) - August 1, 2008

State police said 53-year-old Johnny H. Dowell Jr. of Newark, who works at the Ferris School juvenile detention facility, was arrested Thursday and charged with using a computer to deal in child pornography.

Investigators said Dowell, who is out on bond, received a child sex video from 35-year-old James C. Peterson of Wilmington. Peterson faces 20 counts of using a computer to unlawfully depict a child engaging in a prohibited sexual act. He is being held in lieu of a $40,000 secured bond.

Authorities said the investigation began in May after the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children alerted them to a possible image of child pornography being transmitted from an America Online address in Delaware.
