NE Pa. Revolutionary War monumuent damaged

WYOMING, Pa. (AP) - August 3, 2008 The monument is above a mass grave of Revolutionary War soldiers killed by British troops and their American Indian allies in 1778.

Wyoming Monument Association Vice President Marcella Starr estimates that Saturday morning's lightning strike caused about $10,000 in damage to the structure built in 1843. Structural engineers will have to inspect it to determine the exact extent of the damage.

Wyoming Mayor Robert Boyer says an emergency repair fund will be set up on Monday. He says the monument isn't insured and the association doesn't have the money to repair it.
