Residents heated over stolen air conditioners

GLASSBORO, N.J. - August 3, 2008 Glassboro police say they were called to the Beau Rivage apartment complex on Route 322 yesterday for the report of a stolen air conditioner.

A closer look uncovered at least ten central air conditioning units missing. Most of theapartments are occupied by Rowan University students and have been vacant for much of the summer.

"Every time there's a winter break or a summer break a lot of the house get broken into," Robert Darghi of Belleville, New Jersey said.

It would appear that the air conditioners were taken to cash in on the price of scrapped metal. Yet some copper tubing was left behind.

Students Action News spoke with are not surprised by the theft; they're just hoping their units don't disappear.

"It's hot, it's very hot, I don't want them to steal our air conditioner. That would be really bad," Keirsten Read of Glassboro, New Jersey said.

Glassboro police say if anyone has information to give them a call.
