Aspiring news anchor meets his idol - Philadelphia News

PHILADELPHIA - August 6, 2008 Although he's only 11, Robert Johnson has been unusually curious about newscasting for 9 years!

He's been an Action News fan since age 2, and a huge fan of Action News anchor Rick Williams.

"I don't know everyone out there, so I don't know if I'd say that I'm his number one fan, but I really do appreciate and respect him a lot," Robert said.

At his home in Northeast Philadelphia, Robert has his own Action News desk, and he practices his news writing and delivery everyday. Like any aspiring journalist, he knows its wise to have more than one career option.

Robert was almost numb with excitement when he, and his older sister and brother in-law, arrived at our 6abc studios today to meet the man who's inspired him most of his life.

After digesting Rick's every word did his idol live up to his expectations?

Robert enjoyed a full station tour, meeting and chatting with producers, directors and engineers, and then to his amazement, Rick invited him to the co-anchor chair during Action News at Noon.
