In Pitman, New Jersey, a bolt hit the Creighton family's garage in and started a small fire.
"They're saying it followed the garage tracks and hit something back there and we had a small fire in the back," Steve Creighton said.
Clark Pierpont, the Pitman Borough Fire Chief, was in church across the street and heard the strike. While in services, he noticed the fire trucks moving in.
Meanwhile, in Franklin Township, the Conway family had their garage destroyed after a bolt hit it.
"I told the kids to get their shoes and I said grab all the animals because we're getting ready to run if we have to," Betty Conway said.
In Camden, flash flooding damaged several cars.
