30+ NJ school supers due 6-figure deals

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - August 14, 2008 A state study released Wednesday shows more than 30 school administrators could be due six-figure retirement packages.

The state initiated the study after it was reported retired Keansburg Superintendent Barbara Trzeszkowski was due $740,876 in unused sick time and other buybacks. That led to lawmakers to place caps on new contracts.

But the state says Guttenberg business administrator Jolene Mantineo is entitled to $258,802. Wall Township Superintendent James Habel and Somerset Hills Superintendent Peter Miller are due more than $200,000.

Retirement payments for most other school administrators is well below the caps. The average is slightly over $10,000 on a typical salary of about $108,000.
