Opening day at Camp Shriver

It's the opening day of a free camp for children with special needs.

Special Olympics Philadelphia is hosting a week long summer camp at the Cruz Recreation center in Northern Liberties. This free one week camp offers individuals with intellectual disabilities an opportunity to learn new sports skills and participate in individual and team sports, build friendships and have fun!

It's the second year for this free camp and organizers are hoping some people in our area will get involved in special Olympic all year round. It's open to anyone with intellectual disabilities from age 8 and up. Even senior citizens are welcome to participate.

It's free and they're reaching out to everyone in hopes of taking special Olympic out of the suburbs and into cities like Philadelphia. For more information you can go to: Special Olympics Philadelphia
