Police say Richard White admitted to robbing the banks after officers found about $3,500 hidden in his shoes after they'd arrested him in an unrelated domestic harassment case.
Police say White robbed one bank in Manhattan, eight in Queens and as many as 22 in Brooklyn. They say he got away with about $100,000. He is also a suspect in a robbery on Long Island.
Authorities are still determining the charges against White, who was in custody Saturday.
