On Monday afternoon around 4:30p.m., Camden police were called to the report of multiple people inside of a home on the1400 block of Princess Avenue in Camden, New Jersey. Officials say there was an argument and a 54 year old man used a handgun to shoot four members of his family in his own kitchen and dining room. He then turned the gun on himself.

Police found two females, ages 33 and 81, dead. A 30-year-old man was also shot and killed. The shooter and a 57-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the hospital. A 7 and 10-year-old ran as the shots were being fired.

"It sounds like they got out of the house when the shooting happened and went across the street to a neighbor's home. There were multiple neighbors in the community who called 911 when they heard the shots," Camden County prosecutor Jason Laughlin said.

Officials say all the victims were members or related to the Cruz family. A man, who did not give his name, says the 30-year-old male victim, Felix Cruz was a cab driver who he worked with. Officials confirm he was the son of the shooter.

The prosecutor's office says in June, police were called to the home, but it is not clear why.

Officials tell Action News the two children who escaped will likey be taken care of by other family members.
