Hunters told to spare albino deer

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - September 9, 2008

But Hanover is telling hunters not to put a nearly white deer in their sights.

Children have dubbed the piebald deer that frequents the Cedar Knolls section Snowflake.

Former Mayor Robert Steiger says the deer was born in his front yard three summers ago.

Last year, 10 bow hunters patrolled three parcels of land in the Cedar Knolls section and shot about 18 deer.

The hunt is extended to the Whippany section this year and includes 20 hunters.
