90-year-old woman robbed

RHAWNHURST - September 10, 2008 - It happened Wednesday in the 1700 block of Hartel Ave.

The woman told police she was taking a nap when she heard a knock on the door. She opened it, and found two men posing as Philadelphia Water Department employees.

She spoke to Action News about her ordeal, saying one of the men hit her, and left her lying on the floor.

The victim is okay, just a bit shaken up.

The robbers got away with between $7,000 and $9,000 that she was saving for a trip to Acapulco with her niece.

They also made off with her wedding ring which she got from her late husband of 25 years.

Police add, this is the latest in these similar types of attacks in Northeast Philadelphia.
