Falsely accused student gets $61,000

GREENSBURG, Pa. (AP) - September 17, 2008

That's what Hempfield Area Senior High School student Cody Webb will receive for settling his lawsuit with the school district and state police who charged him in March 2007. The settlement also includes $22,000 in attorneys fees and other costs.

Webb was 15 when he spent 12 days in juvenile custody because police thought Webb called Hempfield Area Senior High School within minutes of the threat. But a judge threw out the charges after learning the school had not adjusted its clocks for daylight saving time, meaning Webb's cell phone call and threat were made more than an hour apart.
