He's only 23-years-old, but you can call him Captain. The Philadelphia Flyers have chosen 23-year-old Mike Richards as their new team captain.

He is the 17th captain in Flyers history.

Richards finished last year, his third season with the black and orange, with 28 points, 47 assists, and a team-leading 75 points.

Last season, the Kenora, Ontario born forward was also rewarded with a 12-year contract extension.

Simon Gagne and Kimmo Timonen were named alternate captains.

Richards will be wearing the C when the Flyers face the Devils Monday, September 22.
