Police: Woman surrenders after firing at troopers

BRIDGEVILLE, Del. (AP) - September 20, 2008 Police were called to Brenda Ann Donophan's home east of Bridgeville in Sussex County around 11 p.m. Friday for a call about a woman shooting into the air. When they arrived, police say Donophan came out of the house and fired.

Initial attempts to talk failed but police were eventually able to talk to Donophan on the telephone and she surrendered. Police say Donophan had a handgun and a BB pistol.

Police say Donophan was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital around 1:20 a.m. Saturday with self-inflicted wounds that were not life-threatening.

She was charged with 10 felonies and is being held at Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $46,000 secured bail.
