A grand welcome for returning troops

WILLOW GROVE, Pa. - September 20, 2008 The military charter arrived in Willow Grove with over 140 support troops from the 111th Fighter Wing of Pennsylvania's Air National Guard, fresh from deployment at Bagran Air Base in Afghanistan.

Their jubilant families could not be contained behind the designated lines.

"It was a long stay. We did well, though. We had a lot of good people with us, great group of guys and girls," Dennis Morgan of King of Prussia said.

"It's good to be home, missed everybody. We had a good time out there, we did what we had to do, our mission. Now, we're back home to be with our families," Sgt. Vance Sample of Alden said.

"We did a great job and we're back here with our families; it's a great day," Dave Barnes of Ivyland, Pennsylvania said.

As it stands now, this is supposed to be the last combat deployment for the 111th from Willow Grove Air Station.

"It was a little rough, scary at times. I missed my family, that was the hardest part, "Aileen Letterlough of Warminster said.

The A-10 pilots, 40 of them from the area, are due to land at Willow Grove on Tuesday afternoon.
