Police: Burglar busted in the act

WILMINGTON, Del. - September 22, 2008 Delaware State and New Castle County police say they suspected Jacob Truman of Wilmington of a series of burglaries in the Wilmington area.

Saturday night, Delaware State Troopers set up a surveillance detail and tailed Mr. Truman as he drove around the North Wilmington area. At approximately 4:00 a.m., police say Truman pulled up to Bella Italy, along Governors Printz Boulevard, and he got inside and burglarized the restaurant. Detectives moved in and captured Mr. Truman without incident.

Police believe Truman is responsible for the following recent burglaries:

  • September 16th- Claymont Tobacco Outlet- 2000 block of Philadelphia Pike.
  • September 16th- Clifton Liquors- 300 block of Edgemoor Road.
  • September 17th- Fairfax Valet- Fairfax Boulevard.
  • September 17th- Old Country Gardens- 400 block of Wilson Road.
  • September 17th- Foulk Road Lawn Co.- 2000 block of Foulk Road.
  • September 17th- Concord Pike Liquors- 4000 block of Concord Pike.
  • September 17th- Fairfax Liquors- 2200 block of Concord Pike.
  • September 17th- Nile Liquors Inc. Landers Lane. (New Castle County Police Case)
  • September 19th- Rent-A-Center- 1900 block South Maryland Avenue.
  • September 21st- Bella Italy

Truman faces 7 felony burglary and several other criminal charges. He's was sent to the Howard Young Correctional Institute in lieu of $38,500.00 secured bond.
