Workers continue to picket Crozer-Chester Medical Center

Upland, Pa. - October 2, 2008

The workers are members of the Laborers International Union 1310. They include cleaning staff, dietary and transport. They say the new contract does not keep up with the cost of living.

Crozer-Keystone Health System released this statement today: "A growing number of LIU Local 1310 employees are choosing to return under the terms of the final proposal, which includes a 3% increase in the first year and a benefit plan that is the same as our other employees. All patient needs continue to be met and all hospital services are open and running including a full operating room schedule, as well as all other inpatient and outpatient services. No new negotiations have taken place since Monday, September, 29, 2008 when CKHS's last, best and final offer was made. No new negotiations are scheduled."
