TS Norbert could strengthen

MIAMI - October 6, 2008 Norbert has maximum sustained winds near 65 mph. The National Hurricane Center in Miami says Norbert is expected to strengthen and could become a hurricane later Monday.

Norbert is centered about 340 miles south of Manzanillo, Mexico, and moving west near 7 mph.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Marie is expected to weaken to a depression later in the day Monday. The storm's maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph.

Marie is centered about 900 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California, Mexico, posing no threat to land.
