"The Hemingses of Monticello" is another look at the Hemings family by Annette Gordon-Reed.

Gordon-Reed, once again does her homework as a researcher is this moving account of Thomas Jefferson's relationship with Sally Hemings and the seven children she bore.

The family that was once hidden in history has come to the forefront as an American Family whose story is finally being told.

Annette-Gordon Reed does this and much more by bringing the Hemingses to their rightful place as the other family of Thomas Jefferson.

In Gordon-Reed's new book readers will see the ties that brought the Wayles, Hemings and Jefferson families together.

Readers will meet Elizabeth Hemings, the matriarch and mother of twelve children who become the property of Jefferson through marriage.

Annette Gordon-Reed is a professor of law at New York Law School and a professor of history at Rutgers University. She is the author of Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings: An American Controversy. She lives in New York City with her family.
