Pennsylvania's Attorney General said negotiations over Countrywide Financial's subprime mortgages could lead to cash payments or loan modifications. Tom Corbett said a settlement with Bank of America, which acquired Countrywide, is expected to be reached within weeks.

It's Fire Prevention week and here's a warning about furniture with polyurethane foam.

"Most people have no idea how dangerous this type of furniture can be once it's ignited. They have no idea that it burns exceedingly quickly, that it lets off huge amounts of toxic fumes and gases," said consumer attorney Mark LeWinter.

Government safety experts say fires involving residential upholstered furniture kill 300 people every year.

"Retailers like IKEA, JCPenny, they won't sell upholstered furniture unless it has flame retardants in it."

And look for the UFAC, Uniform Furniture Action Council, label stating the fabric has smolder-resistant qualities.

Tags that say Cal 116 or Cal 117 Standards indicate the foam is flame retardant.

And make sure ignition sources like candles, cigarettes, and space heaters are kept far away from upholstered furniture at all times.

Apple's reported plans to introduce new laptops include a rumor the new line will feature the company's cheapest model ever! The alleged 800-dollar laptop would be about 300-dollars less than Apple's current lowest-price option.

Apple doesn't comment on rumors but we'll soon learn whether this one's true, the new notebooks launch is next Tuesday October 14th.
