Fatal stabbing in Hatboro apartment

HATBORO, Pa. - October 16, 2008 Residents of the Garner House, many of them elderly, are troubled by this Thursday morning's stabbing.

"I don't expect things like this to happen here," Sue Ann Levy of Hatboro, Pa. said.

But for the first time ever, Hatboro Police are investigating a homicide.

Investigators say it happened in a fifth floor apartment.

Police say that at approximately 9:00 this morning a fatal stabbing took place at the Garner House Apartments located at 50 South Penn Street.

Authorities are asking for the public's assistance in locating 42-year-old Gregory John King. King was last seen outside the Garner House Apartments. He left the area in a tan or gold 2005 Toyota Camry, license plate FTY 3399 with 45-year-old Denise Peters.

"He left this apartment building in a gold or tan Toyota Camry with a Denise Peters," Montgomery County Assitant District Attorney, Kevin Steele, said.

Steele would not disclose King and Peter's relationship nor what happened, but at least one other person was inside the apartment and investigators have questioned him.

"We know a fair amount about what went on in that apartment, but we need to speak to all the parties," Steele said.

Sue Ann Levy says she's relieved the stabbing doesn't appear to be a random act, but Hatboro's first murder is disturbing nonetheless.

"We're just hoping things will calm down, you want to feel safe," Levy said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at the following numbers: (610) 278-3398 or (215) 675-2832.
