People living along one Southwest Philadelphia street got a thunderous wakeup early Wednesday morning, when a police car slammed into a row of parked cars.

The crash happened about 2:30 in the morning along the 2600 block of South 70th Street.

Investigators say the two officers in the cruiser were pursuing a stolen car that was used in a series of robberies, when their cruiser went out of control and smashed into the parked cars.

The force of the collision propelled one car onto a front lawn.

The two officers were treated and released from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for minor injuries.
