Early morning standoff injures officer

CHESTER, Pa. - October 25, 2008

Chester City police were called to a home near the intersection of 12th and Booth Streets after they received reports of a man armed with a gun just before 5 a.m.

At that time, the suspect fired several shots, and one of them grazed a Chester Police SWAT officer in the neck. The officer was treated at the scene of the standoff and returned to join the police force on the scene.

Police got in contact with the gunman and were able to get the other person inside the home released unharmed. After about 4 hours, the barricaded male surrendered to police and was taken into custody.

Investigators have not yet said what charges they plan to file against the suspect.
