Deputy John Maney has a new partner -- one he found himself.

The Polk County, Florida, lawman wanted a new drug dog, but his chief said they didn't have the budget.

So, Maney went to the pound, found and adopted a puppy, and trained it.

Maney has the experience.

He has worked with five K-9 cops before.

Maney said he passed on several dogs before finding a black lab mix he named Rezadu.

It took 12 weeks to train Rezadu.

The pup did so well, he's now a nationally certified narcotics dog.
