Water main break floods homes

ROXBOROUGH - November 1, 2008

A 30-inch main broke on the 600 block of Summit Avenue in Philadelphia's Roxborough section, just before 5 o'clock this morning.

Water came rushing into homes.

Officials say six homes have been flooded, with two of them had their foundations compromised. The homes are along Summit Avenue, and the 600 block of Cheswick Avenue.

The water main has been shut off. PGW also had to shut-off gas in the area before crews can start repairs to the main.

Firefighters have called the Red Cross in to assist displaced residents.
