Man on trial in burning death of girlfriend

LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) - November 4, 2008 Paramedic Diane Ray testified Monday on the opening day of 39-year-old John Graves Jr.'s trial on homicide charges in the death of Angela Readance.

Ray says the 29-year-old woman with second- and third-degree burns over 90 percent of her body told the EMS personnel, "My boyfriend did this." She identified John Graves by name to doctors. She died days later.

Graves slouched in his chair in the Lancaster County Courtroom, and whispered to his attorneys. Defense attorneys suggest it isn't proven that he was the one who set the fire.
