The St. George City Council voted last week to suspend the ban on Election Day beer sales in restaurants.
The city attorney notes the state had already lifted a ban on Election Day booze.
But the city ordinance remained in effect.
The city attorney says without the local change, restaurant patrons could have ordered a margarita, but not a beer.
