Woman struck, killed by train

Police were called to the Amtrak train tracks between Newport and Stanton for the report of a woman struck by a train. According to investigators, an Amtrak train was heading in a northbound direction when it struck the woman who was standing still on the tracks.

The female was pronounced dead at the scene. She is only described as a white female in her mid to late 30's.

Authorities have been unable to identify the female; however, they have generated leads in this area.
