SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA - November 16, 2008 The pedestrian was crossing the street in the 4800 block of Springfield Avenue around 3:00 a.m. when he was struck by a car.
The impact of the crash sent the man over the hood of the striking car and onto the highway.
Medics transported the victim to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The female driver of the car faces DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges.
