Drivers suprised by this landing

LOS ANGELES (AP) - November 20, 2008

It was the kind of incident that TV officers Reed and Malloy might have been sent to check out.

A small plane made a hard landing last night on a four-lane street near Whiteman Airport in the Los Angeles suburb of Pacoima.

Nobody was hurt.

But it was a close call.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the experimental single-engine FlightStar dodged utility lines but clipped a parked car.

Several drivers had to swerve to avoid getting hit.

Officials say the plane lost power and the pilot didn't think he could make it to the runway.
