Ski resorts look to open soon

PALMERTON, Pa. - November 20, 2008 Blue Mountain has been making snow since Tuesday.

This early cold snap has allowed the resort to get ahead of schedule.

"Making snow, what I would say is a week or two earlier than what we had planned, is a blessing," Dennis Krell, General Manager of Blue Mountain, said.

Spring Mountain in Montgomery County is gearing up for the season as well.

Staff members there are testing the snow making machines before they kick it in high gear tomorrow night.

Spring Mountain was going to open on December 13, but with the early snowfall they are hoping to open sooner.

An October surprise snowstorm dumped about a foot of snow in the Poconos.

That got local skiers and snowboarders amped up for winter.

AccuWeather is predicting we'll get more snow this year than we did last winter.
