Peco gas rates to be slightly above last winter's

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - November 24, 2008 Peco Energy said Monday that it will lower gas rates by nearly 20 percent in December for its nearly 500,000 gas customers in suburban Philadelphia.

December's winter heating bill for the average customer will be $213, reflecting a drop in wholesale gas prices that rose significantly last spring.

A customer's actual bill will depend on usage.

The average Peco gas bill will rise in January and February to $231 per month.

That's because Peco is increasing its delivery rates by 7 percent to pay for higher operating costs, pipeline improvements and more energy efficiency programs.
